RCTV Educational Channel 77
Schedule
RCTV Channel 77 is Rye’s Education Channel, overseen
and produced by the Rye City School District. Original programs produced by
the staff and students of the school district include curriculum overviews,
special events, concerts, plays, and musicals featuring the students of the
Rye City School District. Also shown on Channel 77 are speakers on childhood,
family and educational topics sponsored by Heard In Rye, the speaker’s bureau
founded by the school district, and other educational speakers and presenters
who meet with students, parents, and residents of the school district. Additionally,
topical educational programming is selected for presentation on Channel 77
from a variety of sources screened and selected by the District’s television
coordinator. Board of Education meetings are shown throughout the day every
Wednesday and every evening beginning at 9 p.m. The television studio for
the school district is housed at Rye High School, providing the unique opportunity
to offer high school students classes in video production and television journalism,
and creative video design through the Performing Arts Curriculum. The results
of their class work is included in the regular Channel 77 programming schedule.
During the school year, September through June, the Rye High School news and
daily announcements are shown live every morning and then repeated throughout
the day. The monthly cable schedule is available here and is updated monthly.
